The words of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum inspire DEWA to develop its Innovation and Future Shaping Framework

The words of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, “The future belongs to those who can imagine it, design it, and execute it” inspired Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) to embed them into the three main phases of its Innovation and Future Shaping Framework to become ‘Imagine, Design, and Implement’. This makes DEWA the first government entity to include the words of His Highness in its Innovation and Future Shaping Framework.

The Innovation and Future Shaping Framework, which DEWA has developed, aims to anticipate and shape the future of energy and water sectors as well as develop the key services and operations that benefit DEWA and all its stakeholders. The ‘Imagine’ phase (previously, Foresight) is concerned with looking into local and international strategies, work plans, technology roadmaps, as well as different ideas to outline the various future services and operations. During the ‘Design’ phase (previously, Insight), plans are developed to design these services. The ‘Implement’ phase (previously, Action) turns these plans into realty.

“At DEWA, our vision and strategy are guided by the wise directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. We are working to translate the words of His Highness into reality, in a way that enhances Dubai’s position as an incubator for creativity and a beacon of innovation, and achieves the goals of the UAE Centennial 2071 to make the UAE the world’s leading nation. We are keen to seize opportunities, anticipate challenges in all sectors and analyse them to set long-term proactive plans. Thanks to the unlimited support of the wise leadership, DEWA has become one of the most distinguished and pioneering utilities around the world,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.

“DEWA is an ardent supporter of Dubai’s progress in leading the future by reshaping the traditional concepts of work mechanisms to suit the rapid global changes. Through Digital DEWA, our digital arm, we strive to redefine the concept of utilities and create a new digital future for Dubai, to become the premier digital utility in the world; with autonomous systems for renewable energy and storage and the expansion of AI and digital services. This is part of our vision to become a globally leading sustainable innovative corporation, and in line with the Dubai 10X initiative, which mandates the Government of Dubai to lead the way to the future,” added Al Tayer.

Marwan Bin Haidar, Executive Vice President of Innovation and the Future at DEWA, said that the Innovation and Future Shaping Framework aims to anticipate and shape the future of the energy and water sectors. It is part of DEWA’s efforts to develop resilient and innovative strategies within an integrated framework.
